This project draws attention to the relationship between two people. The stools, while able to be separated as individual units, maintain a bond through their materiality, patterns, and formal qualities. In that capacity, no matter how they are oriented, whether back to back or side by side, the height, scale, and form of the stools emphasize the intimacy of the two people.

The project is also a study of different plaster mold making designs. Due to the dimensions of the object being much larger than what’s normally acceptable for slip casting, I used a technique of troweling plaster onto the positive to make a mold that is thinner, lighter, and suitable for press molding slabs rather than pouring slip.
